Sara
I am delighted to be the first Reading Doctor in the Blackburn area and be a part of a specialist reading intervention team that offers a bespoke and personalised programme tailored to the needs of each and every child.
I have always been passionate about working in the education sector and have over eight years of experience both teaching and working with children, including those with SEN and EAL needs.
I love the impact that I am able to have on the young minds I teach, however I have realised that spending time on a 1:1 basis with a child is where I can really form a meaningful bond and focus on overcoming obstacles specific to each child.
As a teacher, my favourite part of the day is ‘storytime’ where I get the opportunity to read to children and watch their faces light up as they connect with their imagination.
I wholeheartedly believe that reading has the power to transform lives, it is not just a skill but a gateway to endless possibilities. Reading is far more than simply decoding words on a page—it’s a portal to adventure, knowledge and most importantly, self-discovery.
When I first learned about The Reading Doctor, I saw an opportunity where I could combine my passion for teaching together with my love of reading and truly make a difference in nurturing and supporting young minds to grow into the most confident versions of themselves.
I understand that children can face unique challenges when it comes to reading but I also know that these challenges are not insurmountable. With patience, creative methods, and tailored support, I can help children not only learn to read but to love it.
My ultimate goal as a Reading Doctor is to help children discover the extraordinary power of reading and to ensure that no child feels left behind in their journey to understanding and enjoying the world of books.
If you have any concerns about your child’s reading development, please feel free to contact me so we can discuss how I can best support them to unlock their reading potential; the greatest tool in life.
The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” - Dr. Seuss
