Welcome to The Reading Doctor, Bury St. Edmunds.

I qualified as a teacher with a B.Ed (Hons) degree in 2000 and spent most of the time since working in Suffolk schools. Besides class teaching, I have been responsible for leading the Early Years Foundation Stage, Design and Technology and UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Awards.

I am experienced in teaching pupils from two to eleven years-old within school. I particularly enjoy teaching in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1). As The Reading Doctor Bury St. Edmunds, I now have the privilege of tutoring pupils from their Early Years up to Secondary age.

I have a special interest in speech language and communication needs, as well as children’s mental health. This is because I have taught children with English as an additional language and a range of special educational needs or disabilities.

Inspiring children to discover their love of reading is one of the best parts of being a teacher. I love to use their interests as a starting point to get them excited about reading and to help them access new worlds whether these are fictional or factual.

At The Reading Doctor we use our expertise to provide a bespoke, multi-sensory learning program tailored to your child that is designed to nurture their self-confidence too.

If you have any concerns about your child’s reading or writing development, please feel free to contact me so we can discuss their strengths, learning needs and how I can best support them to become a successful, flourishing, independent reader and writer.
