I am excited to be bringing The Reading Doctor to Dorchester and the surrounding areas of West Dorset.

I qualified as a primary teacher with BEd (Hons) 18 years ago, spending most of this time working in First Schools within the Dorchester area. During this time I completed my SENCO accreditation and held the role of SENCO and Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion for several years. During this time I discovered my passion for working with and supporting children with additional needs.

As a child, I was one of those children for whom reading did not come naturally, and I always felt that I needed to work harder than my peers just to keep up. I was lucky enough to find teachers who supported and nurtured me and this was one of my main driving factors in becoming a teacher myself.

I have extensive experience working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and Social, Emotional Needs. I believe it is important to teach children the way they learn and at The Reading Doctor, we have the freedom and expertise to create a bespoke learning program for every child. Every child has their areas of strengths and I believe it is my job as a teacher to find ‘the glitter’ in every child in order to make them shine.

At The Reading Doctor, Dorchester, we provide a bespoke and multi-sensory learning program for your child. Sessions are designed to promote and develop self-confidence and self-belief and equip children with strategies to enable them to become increasingly confident and independent learners. Above all else, I want to inspire children to develop a love of reading which will last a lifetime.
