Welcome to The Reading Doctor Worthing.

I first heard about The Reading Doctor whilst watching 'Location, Location, Location'. After meeting the founder Deborah Salsbury, I knew I wanted to be part of this very special team and in January 2020, I was delighted to set up The Reading Doctor Worthing where I offer one to one lessons to children living in Worthing and surrounding areas.

In 1992 I gained a Bachelor of Education Honours Degree and began my teaching career in Sussex. For 30 years I was a class teacher working across Early Years, KS1 and KS2 and in September 2023 I moved away from classroom teaching to become a full time Reading Doctor. I am very passionate about the teaching of reading and writing and have a desire to motivate a love of reading in children. I am very aware that children learn in different ways and The Reading Doctor philosophy enables me to deliver precise intervention, unlock potential and help build self-esteem and confidence. One to one lessons give children the opportunity to learn through ways that suit their particular learning style and lessons aim to promote and develop pupils to grow and to think as independent readers and learners.

I teach from the reading room at my home in Broadwater Worthing and also teach lessons online. I offer lessons after school and also during the day and I have set up very successful Reading Doctor hubs in two local schools.
