We’re proud to offer a stepping-stone pathway in English for learners who need a practical, flexible alternative to traditional qualifications, designed especially with neurodivergent pupils in mind.

About Functional Skills

Through our partnership with Pass Functional Skills, Reading Doctor pupils can now access:

  • Entry Level 1 Course

  • Entry Level 2 Course

  • Entry Level 3 Course

  • Entry Level 3 Exam (with or without course)

This makes it possible for pupils to work through the levels at their own pace, with the option to sit a nationally recognised Entry Level 3 Functional Skills qualification when they’re ready.

Although the courses are digital, many pupils benefit from additional Reading Doctor input:

  • In-person support to navigate the platform

  • Offline activities using printed or tactile resources

  • Breaks, chunking and adaptive teaching strategies
     

This approach allows us to support a wide range of learners, from those with dyslexia or ADHD to those with trauma or sensory needs.
