What is EOTAS?
EOTAS stands for Education Other Than At School. It is a form of education
funded by local authorities for children and young people who cannot attend school full-time, usually as part of an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
This might be due to:
- Special educational needs (SEND)
- Medical or mental health needs
- Autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties
- Anxiety, trauma, or previous failed placements

How The Reading Doctor Supports
EOTAS Learners
At The Reading Doctor, we understand that every learner has unique needs, especially those being educated outside of a traditional school setting. Our tailored approach ensures that EOTAS learners receive the right support, in the right way, to help them thrive both academically and emotionally.
Personalised, One-to-One Tuition
We offer one-to-one tuition, either in person or online, to provide focused attention and consistency. This individualised approach allows us to build strong, trusting relationships with each student — a vital part of helping EOTAS learners feel safe and supported.
Multisensory and Structured Learning
Our lessons are designed to be highly personalised and multisensory, making learning more engaging and accessible. Whether a child needs help with literacy, numeracy or confidence, our sessions are tailored to meet their specific needs and learning style.
Emotionally and Academically Supportive
We adapt each lesson to suit not just academic abilities, but emotional readiness too. Our teachers are sensitive to anxiety, school trauma and additional needs, ensuring that every session is paced appropriately and delivered with compassion.
Qualified, Experienced Educators
All our sessions are delivered by qualified teachers with extensive experience supporting children and young people in EOTAS settings. We know how to build rapport, boost confidence and deliver results — one step at a time.
