Welcome to the Reading Doctor Barry

I feel privileged to have the opportunity to bring the Reading Doctor to Wales and be part of a team of professionals that offer one to one reading sessions. I am available to offer sessions to children in  Barry and Vale of Glamorgan.

Reading Doctor sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each individual pupil following an initial assessment. Reading Doctors provide strategies to promote language and literacy skills through nurturing self – belief and resilience, always using praise and encouragement to facilitate independent learning.

I have a BA in Primary Education and through professional development have training in many reading and literacy interventions and social and emotional development of children.  I have always had a strong passion for teaching reading and phonics and teaching children who have additional learning needs. I have worked in Primary Education since 2005 and I am currently employed in a Primary School teaching within each year group and planning and facilitating nurture provision.

I have been  inspired by Deborah Salsbury, founder of The Reading Doctor and feel proud to be able to offer my experience, skills and knowledge to develop children’s literacy skills with the passion and dedication that all Reading Doctors provide.
