Welcome to The Reading Doctor Herne.  

I’m thrilled to be joining The Reading Doctor Team as I am so passionate about encouraging children learn to read, helping to unlock their potential and seeing them thrive. I have been a classroom teacher for over 15 years, predominately in the EYFS and Key Stage 1 where I have taught hundreds of children to learn to read. For me, seeing children learn to recognise letter sounds in words, blend them together and begin to read whole words is always the most rewarding part of teaching. The process of building relationships, learning to read and having fun doing so together is so exciting and the beginning of a whole new world of learning for children. I am fascinated by watching children learn, grow and develop and through guiding my own children through this process, I developed a love for teaching 1:1. I have many years of tutoring experience and am delighted to bring my teaching skills to The Reading Doctor Herne. I have extensive experience teaching children with SEND, EAL and an array of different barriers to learning. I know it can be easy for children to feel overwhelmed and frustrated by trying to learn challenging concepts in a way which does not suit their needs. As your Reading Doctor, I will tailor my teaching to suit your child’s learning needs in order to promote self-confidence, boost their self esteem and help to foster a life-long love of reading.
