CHIPPING NORTON
The Reading Doctor

Hello, I'm Laura!
I'm proud to lead The Reading Doctor Chipping Norton, offering personalised 1:1 reading support to help children grow in confidence and develop a lifelong love of reading.
Since graduating from Nottingham Trent University in 2003 with a teaching degree, I’ve taught primarily in Reception and Key Stage 1 – where key reading foundations are built. I worked my way up to a senior teaching role and loved the opportunity to shape whole school learning while nurturing young readers.

Why I Became a Reading Doctor
Throughout my teaching career, I’ve supported children with a wide range of needs, including special educational needs and English as an additional language. I’ve always aimed to create learning environments where children feel excited to learn, confident to take risks and supported to grow.
Since moving to Oxfordshire in 2014, I’ve stayed close to education – volunteering in schools, chairing a preschool and serving as a school governor. I recently completed a Master’s in Psychology, focusing my dissertation on how teachers understand dyslexia. When I discovered The Reading Doctor, I knew it was the perfect way to combine my experience, continued learning and passion for early literacy.
