Hello, I'm Danielle!
I'm proud to lead The Reading Doctor Herne, offering personalised 1:1 reading support to help children grow in confidence and discover a lifelong love of books.
With over 15 years’ experience as a classroom teacher, I’ve taught predominantly in EYFS and Key Stage 1 – where the foundations of reading are first built. Teaching children to recognise letter sounds, blend them together and read their first words has always been the most rewarding part of my work.

Why I Became a Reading Doctor
I’ve always been fascinated by how children learn and grow, and guiding my own children through the early stages of reading deepened my love of 1:1 teaching. I’ve also tutored for many years, and I’ve seen first-hand the difference it makes when learning is tailored to suit each child.
I’ve worked with children with a range of needs, including SEND, EAL and learning barriers, and I understand how easily children can feel overwhelmed in the classroom. As a Reading Doctor, I can create a calm, supportive space that builds self-esteem and helps every child feel capable, seen and excited about reading.
