Hello, I'm Jane!
I'm proud to lead The Reading Doctor Maidstone, offering personalised 1:1 reading support to help children overcome barriers and build lasting confidence as readers.
With over 20 years’ experience in education, I’ve held a range of roles including SENCO, Assistant Head and Literacy Lead for the Primary Strategy Team. I currently teach part-time in Year 2 and continue to tutor children individually. I’ve always been passionate about literacy, and nothing has been more rewarding than helping a child learn to read – it’s a skill that truly transforms lives.

Why I Became a Reading Doctor
Throughout my teaching career, I’ve supported children with a wide range of needs and worked with families and teachers to find the right approach for each learner. I believe that reading success depends on self-belief, the right support and a positive, encouraging environment – all values at the heart of The Reading Doctor approach.
When I discovered the Reading Doctor programme, I knew it aligned perfectly with my own philosophy. I now offer 1:1 reading sessions from my home and work with local schools to establish Reading Doctor Hubs – creating safe, nurturing spaces for children who need extra support to grow and thrive as readers.
