Hello, I’m Dawn!
I’m proud to be the Reading Doctor Northampton, offering personalised 1:1 sessions to help children become confident, enthusiastic readers in a warm and nurturing environment.
With over 26 years of teaching experience from Early Years to KS2, I’ve supported many children with special educational needs and a wide range of learning and behavioural challenges. As a qualified SENCO for the past five years, and with specialist training in Dyslexia (Level 4), I’m passionate about removing barriers, building confidence, and helping every child stay motivated.

Why I Became a Reading Doctor
Classrooms are busy places, and it’s not always possible to give each child the tailored support they need, especially those who have lost confidence or are disengaged with reading. Becoming a Reading Doctor allows me to work one-to-one with children, rebuilding trust and helping them rediscover the joy of books in a calm, supportive space.
I’ve always believed reading should feel magical, like stepping into a treasure map, a portal, or a playground. In my Reading Doctor reading room, I aim to create that same sense of wonder, where children can fall in love with stories and rediscover the magic of reading.
