Hello, I'm Liz!
I'm proud to lead The Reading Doctor Nottingham North, where I help children become confident, engaged readers through bespoke, 1:1 support in a warm and encouraging setting.
With 30 years of experience in teaching, specialising in Key Stage 1, phonics and early reading, I’ve worked with many children with special educational needs and a range of learning and behavioural difficulties. My goal has always been to remove barriers, build confidence and keep every child motivated – something I’m now able to do more effectively than ever through The Reading Doctor.

Why I Became a Reading Doctor
In a busy classroom, it can be a challenge to give each child the time and tailored support they truly need – especially those who have switched off from reading and lost confidence in their own ability. Becoming a Reading Doctor allows me to work one-to-one, rebuilding trust in a calm environment where children can begin to feel successful, positive and excited about reading again.
Throughout my career, I’ve created spaces where reading is celebrated – from inspiring classroom book corners to magical snow caves filled with twinkling lights and cosy cushions. I’ve always believed that books should spark joy, awe and wonder. Now, I’m thrilled to offer that same sense of magic and belonging in my very own Reading Doctor reading room.
