Hello, I'm Rachael!
I'm proud to lead The Reading Doctor Poole, supporting children across Dorset to unlock their reading potential through personalised, 1:1 tuition in a nurturing and positive environment.
With over 20 years’ experience in primary education – including roles as a class teacher, Assistant Head and subject lead in English, Phonics, Early Years and PSED – I bring a wealth of knowledge and understanding to each session. I’m passionate about celebrating every child as a unique learner and guiding them towards confidence, pride and joy in reading.

Why I Became a Reading Doctor
For some children, reading quickly becomes a struggle – a daily chore that chips away at self-esteem and motivation. I’ve seen how transformative the right approach can be: with time, care and tailored teaching, children begin to flourish. That’s why I was drawn to The Reading Doctor – its bespoke, child-centred ethos mirrors everything I believe about great teaching.
Throughout my career, I’ve seen the power of one-to-one time, trust and quality resources in helping children break through barriers. The Reading Doctor allows me to offer all of that – and more – in a calm, supportive space where children can thrive as readers and learners.
